江戸の時代、丁子はお宝の一つとして大切にされていました。巻物や隠れ蓑、鍵などとともに、様々な文献や図画、彫刻などにも描かれています。丁子は、クローブというスパイスの名でも今も親しまれている香辛料。香料や薬として利用されていた歴史は、紀元前に遡るとされています。こちらの美しい瑠璃色の小皿はその丁子の形をしています。江戸時代のものです。

【特記事項】
瑠璃の小皿には、小さく細かな傷が見られますが、江戸時代の器としてはとても状態の良いものです。
